NSPE’s Policy on Education
It is the policy of NSPE to promote and support engineering education that creates and supports the next generation of innovators and technology leaders, resulting in licensed professional engineers with the skills and knowledge to practice in a manner that protects the health, safety, and welfare of the public. NSPE recognizes the benefits of engineering education to nurture innovation and creativity in engineering. NSPE proactively encourages its members to engage in lifelong learning and the evolution of engineering education to ensure the profession evolves in an ethical, sustainable manner. NSPE volunteers and business entities are directed to implement this policy in relevant position statements, operating procedures, and business practices.

Professional Practice Capabilities in the Professional Engineering Body of Knowledge
NSPE’s Professional Engineering Body of Knowledge highlights the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice as a professional engineer across engineering disciplines.
It incorporates 30 capabilities categorized in three areas: basic or foundational, technical, and professional practice. The full body of knowledge is intended to apply across the engineering profession, for each engineering discipline and employment situation.
